I just watched a man laugh in a woman’s face when she said, “TEACH MEN NOT TO RAPE.” seriously dude, you don’t give your own gender the credit they deserve. it might have taken a few hundred years but we eventually got collective society to make it the social norm not to advocate slavery, child labor, corporal punishment, and (most) race discrimination, can we please end the debate that has raged on since the dawning of time? RAPE IS NEVER ACCEPTABLE nor should it be TRIVIALIZED nor should it ever be the responsibility of the person who was RAPED to prevent their rape. jesus fucking christ. HE LAUGHED IN HER FACE as if her suggestion that men should know they should not rape was ridiculous; as if the male brain does not function correctly when focusing its attention on a female and somewhere in the transaction, something SNAPS reducing them to some rabid, mad dog incapable of rational thought or responsibility for its actions. HEY MISTER, maybe you need to realize that most rapists are individuals that the woman KNOWS; they aren’t usually some boogie man danger stranger coming out of the shadows to swoop down on their victim black-caped and cackling. NOT ALL MEN ARE RAPISTS and I’m sure if I were to ask any of my male friends if they know not to rape they would look at me like I was nuts. when a man goes on national television and says YOU CAN’T EXPECT MEN NOT TO RAPE WOMEN, WOMEN NEED TO PROTECT THEMSELVES it’s as if he’s patting the rapist on the head and saying, “there, there, I understand…you couldn’t possibly control yourself. she should have been packing heat, or carrying a tazzer, or had a male friend walking with her, that way you wouldn’t have raped her, would you? it’s not your fault, it’s HERS.” way to fucking miss any and every point. I think most of the men I know are wonderful, respectful, and smart enough to know the difference, even if you don’t, you smugfaced sorry excuse for shit human being.
